The Raiders Release David Amerson

Jon Gruden’s first roster move as head coach of the Raiders was to release former NC State All-American cornerback David Amerson.

Prior to the 2016 season, the Raiders signed Amerson to a 4-year $38 million contract. The reasoning behind cutting Amerson at this point might be because the Raiders would have had to pay $5.5 million for the 2018 this season tomorrow.

Things could get interesting between the Raiders and Amerson in the days going forward. Amerson sat out the final 9 games of 2017 due to a mid-foot sprain. An injury grievance could be filed against the Raiders, because Amerson’s contract was injury guaranteed.

With that being said, don’t expect Amerson to sit on the market for long.
