Will 4-Star ATH JR Walker Choose NC State at Noon?

Published

on

4-Star 2019 Athlete JR Walker will be announcing his college decision at Noon today, and all signs point to the Clayton standout choosing NC State.

Five of the experts over at 247Sports made their Crystal Ball projection of where Walker would land, and all 5 of them picked NC State. That includes Steve Wiltfong, the National Director of Recruiting for 247Sports, who has made 1,849 Crystal Ball predictions, and been right 89% of the time.

Walker has a Top-5 of NC State, South Carolina, UNC, Virginia Tech and Duke that he announced back in May. He took official visits to all the schools in his Top-5 with the exception of Duke. The Wolfpack offered Walker a scholarship back on December 5th, 2016. Walker has stated on numerous occasions since March that NC State was his leader.

That hasn’t stopped the other schools in his Top-5 from pursuing him with vigor, especially South Carolina and Virginia Tech. Walker’s last official visit was to Blacksburg, Virginia last weekend.

247Sports ranks Walker as the #173 overall player in the 2019 class, the #9 athlete, and #6 player in the state of North Carolina. He’s teammates with 4-Star Defensive End Savion Jackson at Clayton High School, who is the highest rated player in the Wolfpack’s 2019 recruiting class.

If Walker chooses to run with the Pack at Noon, #Pack19 will have six 4-star commitments.

PI EXCLUSIVE: 4-Star WR Porter Rooks Talks Commitment to NC State

Published

on

4-Star 2020 Wide Receiver Porter Rooks (6’2″/189) committed to NC State last night, and I had the chance to catch up with him and get his thoughts on his reasons why.

What was it about NC State that led you to commit so early in the process?

“NC State is home. Each visit felt like a home away from home. I can’t even describe the vibe up in Raleigh.

What do you think of the job Coach McDonald’s has done with Harmon, Meyers and the rest of the receivers?

“Coach McDonald’s (Wide Receiver’s Coach) resume speaks for itself. Kelvin Harmon has had great success. Jakobi Meyers developed into a NFL receiver from being a Quarterback. Emeka Emezie has had some early success.”

What is your impression of how NC State is doing on the recruiting trail? Did the success of the 2019 class influence your decision?

“Definitely. #Pack19 isn’t just a recruiting class, it’s a family. When I realized that, I knew that was the culture I wanted to be a part of.”

Are you going to be actively trying to get the best to come to Raleigh?

No doubt. We are building something special.

What have your thoughts been on experiencing a game in Carter-Finley Stadium?

“Nothing like it. Wolfpack Nation loves their football and I can’t wait to be apart of it!”

4-Star 2020 Wide Receiver Porter Rooks Commits to NC State!

NC State just picked up a monster commitment from 2020 4-Star Wide Receiver Porter Rooks (6’2″/189) today. I reached out to Rooks, and he confirmed he was 100% commitmented.

This is one of the highest rated commitments NC State has picked up in the recruiting database era. 247Sports ranks him as the #45 overall player nationally in the 2020 recruiting class, the #7 Wide Receiver, and Rivals ranks him as the #1 player in the state of North Carolina (Providence Day/Charlotte, North Carolina).

Rooks chose NC State over a Final 8 that included Alabama, Michigan, Georgia, Florida, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Virginia Tech.

Freaking huge pickup for the Wolfpack.

He joins 3-Star Quarterback Ben Finley as the 2nd member of the Wolfpack’s 2020 recruiting class.
