#16 NC State vs. Notre Dame: BY THE NUMBERS
#16 NC State and Notre Dame will tipoff at 2pm up in South Bend, but before they do, here’s a look at the matchup BY THE NUMBERS.
Despite their cold shooting of late, NC State remains one of the best shooting teams in the country, ranking 13th in Effective Field Goal Percentage (56.4%). In comparison, Notre Dame ranks 72nd in Defensive Effective Field Goal Percentage (47.8%).
The Wolfpack’s offense is 11th in the country in offensive efficiency, but the fast pace can lead them to turn the ball over more than they like, ranking 135th in Offensive Turnover Percentage (18.3%). Fortunately, the Irish defense doesn’t take the ball away much, ranking 265th in Defensive Turnover Percentage (17.4%).
When it comes to Offensive Rebound Percentage, NC State’s strength is Notre Dame’s weakness. The Wolfpack rank 8th nationally (38.2%), while the Irish rank 218th (29.3%).
On the flip side, NC State is one of the worst at getting to the line, ranking 259th in Free Throw Rate (30.2), and Notre Dame is the best in the nation at keeping people off the line (19.7).
Working in the Wolfpack’s favor, the Irish aren’t an impressive shooting team, ranking 240th in the nation in Offensive Effective Field Goal Percentage (49.0%), while the Pack ranks 75th in Defensive Effective Field Goal Percentage (47.6%).
One of the more interesting things to watch in today’s game, is whether or not NC state will be able to force the Irish to turn the ball over. Notre Dame ranks 2nd nationally in Offensive Turnover Percentage (13.9%), while NC State ranks 8th nationally in Defensive Turnover Percentage (24.2%).
Notre Dame ranks 129th in Offensive Rebounding Percentage (29.8%), and NC State ranks 93rd at keeping the opposition off the offensive glass (26.6%).
The Wolfpack is one of the worst in the nation at keeping their opponent off the charity stripe, ranking 309th in Defensive Free Throw Rate (40.6). Fortunately, the Irish aren’t the most aggressive team in the land, ranking 197th in Offensive Free Throw Rate (33.0).
