on

247Sports’ Evan Daniels caught up with 4-Star 2020 Shooting Guard Matthew Murrell, and the Top-100 prospect said that NC State is 1 of 4 schools that are prioritizing him, along with Memphis, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.

Here’s what he had to say about all 4.

Murrell said he’s taken an unofficial visit to Memphis, and likes that it’s “the hometown school.” When asked if there’s a draw to stay home, Murrell said: “It’s a thought.”

Tennessee: “I like how Rick Barnes has developed players over the years so they can make a run.”

NC State: “I just like how they had a big time guard in Dennis Smith and now they’re getting Jalen Lecque.”

Ole Miss: “Kermit Davis. He was at Middle Tennessee and he was able to play with the big top teams and he helps develop players.”

247 ranks Murrell as the #80 overall prospect nationally, and the #3 player in the state of Tennessee. Murrell plays for Whitehaven in Memphis.
