Seahawks Make Russell Wilson the Highest Paid Player in the NFL

There was a time when he was a 2-star prospect coming out of high school. There was a time that all the pundits said that his game wouldn’t translate to the NFL.

Shortly after the clock struck Midnight, former NC State Quarterback Russell Wilson signed a 4-year $140 million contract extension with the Seahawks, including a $65 million signing bonus, making him the highest paid player in the NFL.

SEATTLE. Let’s get it. @Seahawks #GoHawks

A post shared by Russell Wilson (@dangerusswilson) on

“Hey Seattle, we got a deal. Go Hawks. But I’ma see ya’ll in the morning. Time for ya’ll to go to bed.”

Russell Wilson

2 weeks ago, Wilson gave the Seahawks a April 15th deadline for his contract to be signed. He wasn’t going to allow contract negotiations carry on once the Seahawks were back on the field. There weren’t going to be any distractions.

I guess it’s ok to allow a deadline to be broken by 45 minutes when someone makes you the highest paid player in the league.

Wilson will be the highest paid player per year at $35 million, and his $65 million signing bonus is record breaking as well.

Last season, Wilson threw 35 touchdowns, and boasted a QB Rating of 110.9, which were both career highs, and ranked 3rd in the league.

It was fitting that Wilson was in attendance at the Angels game tonight, making an appearance on the big screen.

Trea Turner Leads the MLB in Walk-Off Hits in 2019

Former NC State Shortstop Trea Turner hit his 2Nd walk-off home run of the season last night.

Turner has hit 3 home runs this year, and the past two have been of the walk-off variety.

Last nights home fun was Turner’s first since returning from the IL, and his first since the third game of the year.

Turner is the only player in the majors to have two walk-off hits in 2019, and both left the park.

Turner has three walk-off home runs in his career.

Russell Wilson Plans to Play till He’s 45

Former NC State Quarterback Russell Wilson is the highest paid player in the NFL, money isn’t the only thing on his mind.

Longevity is as well.

According to a report yesterday, Wilson plans on playing until he’s 45 years old.

“I feel like I’m just getting started,” Wilson said, his voice rising with excitement. “That’s the scary part. That’s the most exciting part. That’s really where I believe that I am right now: I’m just getting started. And I believe this team is just getting started. So, I think that we can do anything that we set our minds out to do.”

“Seven years has gone by so fast,” Wilson said. “You think about just turning 30 years and what I have for the rest of my career — for the next 10-15 years — I’m just fired up about it. You think about some of the best quarterbacks of all time, guys like Drew (Brees), guys like Tom (Brady), who (are playing into their 40s). I really look up to those guys. There’s so much more to do.”

Did Wilson say 15 years… meaning he plans to play until he’s 45?

“Yeah, yeah,” he replied. “That’s the goal. I’m just fired up for it.”

NC State Players Rank 19th in Career Earnings in NFL

According to Spotrac, NC State’s active NFL players rank 19th amongst college football teams, but is that ranking accurate?

According to Spotrac, NC State has 30 active players currently on NFL rosters, that have earned $339,055,680.

Here’s the problem.

Former Wolfpack quarterback Russell Wilson’s career earnings aren’t included.

Wilson spent 4 years in Raleigh, and walked away with a diploma. He only played one year at Wisconsin.

The world won’t let NC State have good things.

Here’s the irony in Spotrac’s calculations.

They included former Tight End Pharoah McKever as one of NC State’s 30 active players. McKever, just like Wilson, left NC State as a Graduate Transfer, and played one year at Florida International.

If Spotrac were to be consistent with their logic, Wilson would be included, and the career earnings of former NC State players would be $413,055680, ranking 12th.

Their numbers also don’t include the contracts of Quarterback Ryan Finley and Linebacker Germaine Pratt. The details of Finley’s contract aren’t known yet, and Pratt has yet to sign.
