Former NC State Swimmer Ryan Held has made the United States Olympic Team for the 2nd Time.

Held previously made the Olympic Team in 2016, when he won a Gold medal in the 4×100 Freestyle Relay, teaming up with Michael Phelps, Caeleb Dressel and Nathan Adrian.

The 2020 Olympics were a mess due to the Covid-19 pandemic, pushing them to 2021, but they were also a mess for Held. In the Olympic Trials in 2021, Held finished 6th in the 100 Freestyle, which normally would have secured him a spot on the Olympic Team. Due to roster limitations, only the Top-5 made the Olympic team instead.

This year, Held made sure he was going to the Olympics, finishing 5th in the 100 Freestyle, once again earning a spot on the Olympic Team in the 4×100 Freestyle Relay.

Held is 1 of 22 former NC State Swimmers to make an Olympic Team, and 1 of 7 to win an Olympic Medal. He is 1 of 5 former Wolfpack Swimmers to win a Gold Medal.
