Are We Looking at an NC State vs. ECU Bowl Game?

Earlier today, I shared an updated list of Bowl Projections for NC State.

Out of the 11 projections that I shared, one of those was the Wolfpack (6-6) playing East Carolina (7-5) in the Military Bowl on December 28th in Annapolis, Maryland. That projection comes from Brett McMurphy of the Action Network.

This afternoon, Joe Giglio, formerly of the News & Observer and WRAL Sports Fan, and now a co-host of the Ovies & Giglio Podcast, shared the following tweet.

When asked in a reply whether the tweet was based off of intel, or whether it was simply what he thought would be a good matchup, he responded with a winky face emoji.

If the two in-state rivals faced one another in a Bowl Game, it wouldn’t be the first time. The Wolfpack and the Pirates faced off in the 1991 Peach Bowl, with the boys in Purple and Gold winning 34-27.

While this would be a fun matchup of in-state rivals, it would be a tad shocking, because the two teams are already scheduled to face one another in the season opener next season.

With that being said, I respect Giglio, and he always seems to be in the no when it comes to Bowl Projections.

Personally, I don’t care that the two teams will face one another in Week 1 in 2025. This would be a Bowl Game that both fanbases would be fired up about, and would bound to have some fireworks.

We’ll have to wait and see if this tweet turns out to be prophetic or not.
