NC State Ranks 23rd in the Directors’ Cup Fall Standings

This is a catch up post, but when the Directors’ Cup Fall Standings were released on December 23rd, NC State was ranked 23rd. Currently the Fall Standings don’t include Football. The Final Fall Standings will be out at the end of Football Bowl Season.

The Wolfpack currently ranks 8th in the ACC.

NC State only had 3 sports place and contribute points to their total.

Women’s Cross Country finished 8th, contributing 70.5 points.

The Men’s Soccer team finished 9th, contributing 64 points. They advanced to the Sweet 16 for the first time in 30 years.

The Women’s Volleyball team finished 33rd, contributing 25 points. This was the 4th NCAA Tournament appearance in program history, and the first since 2017.

In the Final Fall Standings last year (after bowl season), NC State ranked 19th in the Directors Cup Standings.

For a reminder, the Director’s Cup started during the 1993-94 season, with the goal of measuring whole athletic programs, instead of just glorifying individual sports.

NC State has finished in the Top-25 in the Annual Finals Directors Cup Standings for 4 consecutive years. For context, prior to this 4-year streak, NC State had never had consecutive Top-25 years.

The Directors Cup began in 1993-94, and NC State has only finished in the Top-25 five times, with all 5 of those coming in the past 6 years.

All that to say, NC State’s Athletic program is in the best place it’s ever been since the Directors Cup began.
