Aziaha James is 1 of the Best to Ever Wear the Red & White at NC State

NC State guard Aziaha James has just wrapped up one of the best careers in school history.

James arrived in Raleigh amid high expectations, ranked as the #36 overall player nationally in the 2021 recruiting class according to ESPN. Initially, she had to bide her time, averaging only 9.5 minutes per game as a freshman in 25 games (0 starts), with a scoring average of 4.2 points per game. As a sophomore, her playing time increased, averaging 6.8 points in 18.8 minutes per game over 32 games (6 starts).

As a junior, James entered the starting lineup, finally getting her chance to shine, averaging 16.8 points per game.

In her final season, she took her performance up a notch, averaging 17.9 points per game.

Her 36-point outburst against Duke on February 3rd is tied for the 11th most points scored in a single game in NC State history.

Despite only starting for two years, James established herself as one of the best players ever to wear the Red and White.

She is one of 11 players in Wolfpack history to earn 1st Team All-ACC honors two or more times, earning a spot on the team in her final two seasons.
