Former NC State Center Caitlin Weimar is Transferring to UVA.

Back on April 26th of last year, Caitlin Weimar, Center for Boston University, announced she was transferring to NC State. Unfortunately, Weimar missed the entire season this year due to needing hip surgery. In early January, news broke that Weimar was no longer with NC State, opting to rehabilitate from her surgery back home. Despite that fact, it was unknown whether Weimar would spend her final year of eligibility (this year was a redshirt season) at NC State or enter the transfer portal.

On March 13th, news broke that Weimar was entering the Transfer Portal.

Weimar was the Patriot League Player of the Year in 2024, and the Defensive Player of the Year in 2023 and 2024. She earned 1st Team Patriot League honors in her final two years in Boston.

In the 2023-24 season, Weimar averaged 18.7 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks. As a junior, she averaged 15.5 points and 10.0 rebounds. She shot 55.5% this year and 59.7% last year.

NC State had fully expected Weimar to be their starting center this season, but with her out, Freshman Tilda Trygger stepped in to fill the void.

Trygger came to NC State as a 6’6” three-point specialist and had to quickly learn to play in the post. She deserves a ton of credit, going on to earn All-ACC Freshman honors.

Weimar is the 2nd Wolfpack player to find a new home this offseason in the Transfer Portal, joining Guard Laci Steele who landed at Wisconsin. Center Lizzy Williamson is still looking for her next school.
