NC State Women’s Tennis Advances to the Sweet 16!

The #12 seed NC State Women’s Tennis team has advanced to the Sweet 16!

That marks 6 straight seasons NC State has advanced to the Sweet 16!

This weekend, the Wolfpack served as regional hosts, sweeping Charleston Southern 4-0 on Friday and finishing things off with a 4-1 win over #21 UCF on Saturday.

NC State will face #5 seed UNC on Friday in Chapel Hill in the Sweet 16. This marks the third time this season the Wolfpack and the Tar Heels have matched up on the tennis court, with the ladies from Chapel Hill winning both previous meetings. In the regular season, UNC defeated NC State 4-3, and they won 4-1 in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament.

The Wolfpack Women’s Tennis team had four players earn All-ACC honors this season.

Junior Anna Zyryanova (14-8) earned 1st Team honors after receiving 3rd Team honors as a sophomore. Last year, Zyryanova represented NC State in the NCAA Singles Championship, advancing to the second round. She is currently ranked 55th nationally according to the ITA rankings.

Freshman Michaela Laki (6-7) was named to the 3rd Team. She is currently ranked 29th nationally according to the ITA rankings.

The duo of Maddy Zampardo (sophomore) and Gabriella Broadfoot (sophomore) earned 1st Team All-ACC honors in doubles, boasting a 36-9 record together. They are currently ranked 7th nationally according to the ITA rankings. Zampardo and Broadfoot earned ITA All-American honors after winning the ITA All-American Doubles Championship in the fall.

The NC State Women’s Tennis team has played in the NCAA Tournament 15 times, and advanced to the Sweet 16 six times.
