According to Jon Rothstein, NC State Men’s Basketball is finalizing an agreement to play South Carolina in an exhibition game prior to the start of the 2025–26 season.

The Gamecocks finished last season with a 12–20 overall record and a 2–16 record in the SEC. The year before, Head Coach Lamont Paris led South Carolina to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2017, finishing with an overall record of 26–8 and a 13–5 conference record. The Gamecocks ended the 2023–24 season ranked 24th in the AP Poll.

South Carolina appears to be an improved team heading into next season. 247Sports ranks their 2025 five-man prep recruiting class 27th nationally, while their six-man transfer class ranks 65th. ON3 ranks South Carolina’s 2025 transfer class 27th nationally, which accounts not only for incoming players but also for outgoing departures.
