#25 NC State Breaks a Cancun Challenge Record in Their 110-56 Win Over Southern Miss (with Box Score & Highlights)

#25 NC State (5-3) put together one of the best offensive performances in school history, defeating Southern Miss (6-2) 110-56 in the Cancun Challenge. The Wolfpack’s 110 points broke the record for most points scored in the Cancun Challenge. The last time NC State scored 110 points in a game was back on December 21st, 1996, when they beat Delaware State 116-39.

The Wolfpack shot 55.8% from the field, and 47.4% from three.

At one point, the Pack was up by 60 points, and ended up winning by 54.

Seven NC State players scored in double figures.

• Junior Forward Khamil Pierre led the team with 18 points (8-14 FG).
  • She also snagged a team-high 16 rebounds.
  • Pierre now has 5 double-doubles in 8 games this season.
• Sophomore Forward Tilda Trygger almost had a double-double as well, finishing with 16 points and 9 rebounds.
  • Trygger was 5of 7 from the field.
• Sophomore Guard Zam Jones and Junior Guard Zoe Brooks both had 14 points.
  • Jones made 6 of her 10 shots from the field, and 2 of 5 from deep.
    • She led the team with 8 assists, and also had 4 rebounds and 3 steals.
  • Brooks made 7 of 14 from the field.
    • She led the team with 4 steals, and also had 5 assists and 3 rebounds.
• Junior Guard Qadence Samuels and Freshman Guard Destiny Lunan both had 11 points.
  • This marks the most points Samuels has scored since December 20th, 2023, when she was a member of UCONN.
    • Samuels was 4 of 6 from the field, and an efficient 3 of 4 from three.
    • She also had 5 boards.
  • Lunan’s 11 points are a new career high.
    • She made 3 of her 5 shots, and 1 of 2 from beyond the arc.
• Freshman Guard Adelaide Jernigan also scored a career high with 10 points, making 4 of 6 on the day, and 2 of 4 from three.
• NC State had 25 assists on 43 field goals.
• The Wolfpack as +9 in turnover margin.
  • It scored 22 points off of turnovers, while Southern Miss scored zilch.
• NC State scored an insane 58 points in the paint, which was 36 more than the Lady Eagles.
