Notes
- Cody Hardy was a tremendous pickup in the transfer portal last offseason. The former Elon Tight End was arguably the best blocker on the team, regardless of position.
- Hardy’s run blocking grade of 80.9 led the team, and his pass blocking grade of 77.0 ranked 3rd.
- Gavin Locklear deserves serious consideration for Tight End Coach of the Year.
- Three of the five highest graded Wolfpack offensive players were Tight Ends.
- Heading into 2026, NC State has lost its highest-graded running back, wide receiver, and offensive lineman to the Transfer Portal, while its highest-graded tight end is headed to the NFL after exhausting his eligibility.
- Despite the departure of Smothers, NC State appears to be in good hands at running back.
- Redshirt Freshman Duke Scott’s overall grade of 77.1 ranked 4th on the offense.
- Noah Rogers entered the Transfer Portal, and Wesley Grimes is out of years of eligibility, but True Freshman Teddy Hoffmann was the 2nd highest graded Wide Receiver.
- Hoffmann flipped his commitment from FAU to NC State on National Signing Day last year, and in hindsight, Hoffmann’s impact as a True Freshman this year far exceeded expectations. Je’Rel Bolder was the highest ranked Wide Receiver in the Wolfpack’s 2025 recruiting class.
- True Freshman Offensive Lineman Spike Sowells Jr. earned a spot on PFF’s Freshman All-American team.
- Sowells Jr. likely has a future at center, but saw action at both guard positions before earning the starting job at right guard.
