Former NC State signee Cole Cloer entered the Transfer Portal after originally enrolling early in January as part of the Wolfpack’s 2026 recruiting class.

Cloer, a 4-star prospect, arrived in Raleigh while recovering from surgery but ultimately entered the portal following Will Wade’s departure to LSU.

Now, there’s a potential destination gaining traction.

Jamie Shaw of Rivals has submitted an RPM prediction for Cloer to land at Virginia.

There’s a clear connection there.

Virginia head coach Ryan Odom has been recruiting Cloer for quite some time. While at VCU, Odom extended an offer to Cloer on July 1, 2023, which was roughly two and a half months before former NC State head coach Kevin Keatts offered him.

From a rankings perspective, Cloer remains a highly regarded prospect in the portal.

Both Rivals and 247Sports rate him as a 4-star transfer. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 58 overall player in the portal and the No. 8 small forward, while Rivals lists him at No. 184 overall and No. 29 at his position.

Coming out of high school, Cloer was ranked as the No. 24 overall player nationally in the 2026 recruiting class by ESPN.
