San Jose State transfer guard Colby Garland (6’0”, 190 pounds) informed CBBcontent that he will have a Zoom meeting with NC State today.

Garland’s recruitment is moving quickly. He took an official visit to Creighton yesterday and is scheduled to visit Memphis on Friday. He has also completed Zoom calls with USC and Auburn.

Garland is coming off a standout junior season at San Jose State, where he earned Third Team All-Mountain West honors. He averaged 20.3 points, 4.6 assists, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 49% from the field and 37.2% from three.

He ranked second in scoring in the Mountain West and 26th nationally, but his impact went beyond just putting the ball in the basket. Garland also finished:

3rd in assists
4th in field goal percentage
6th in free throw percentage
3rd in assist-to-turnover ratio

One of the more balanced guards in the conference.

Garland is looking for his fourth school in four years. He began his career at Drake, where he averaged 19.5 points per game as a freshman. In his time there, he averaged 5.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists while shooting 49% from the field.

He then transferred to Longwood, where he took another step forward, averaging 12.1 points, 4.4 assists, and 2.8 rebounds per game while shooting 46.7%.

At the transfer level, both On3 and 247Sports rate Garland as a 4-star prospect. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 68 overall player in the portal and the No. 15 point guard, while On3 lists him as the No. 102 overall player and the No. 21 shooting guard.

Garland will have one year of eligibility remaining at his next destination.
