This month has been both wild and amazing for State baseball players past and current. Three storylines that jump off the screen.

Luca Tresh’s Stock is Climbing

One year ago, Baseball America didn’t have Tresh in the Top-150 draft picks…Today? They just moved him into the Top-25.

On the season, Tresh is hitting .280 with team leading 8 HRs and 26 RBIs. Furthermore, 27 stolen base attempts and while being safe 78% of the time, means the guy has solid speed too. But the interesting part, especially for the MLB scouts, is what he’s done behind the plate. In his first official year being State’s catcher, he has only 4 errors (.983 FLD%). A catcher that can swing for the fences will be going in the first round, 95% of the time.

To quote Lookout Landings draft profile,

“Tresh hasn’t had the long track record behind the plate to buoy his stock higher and higher over his career. But now that Bailey is gone and he’s the star of the show, you certainly get the feeling with every passing weekend, his name will get more and more popular as we approach the MLB Draft.”

Trea Turner is the Man

Since entering The Show, Turner has done nothing but get better and better. This year is no different. Approaching the month mark of the season, Turner is leading all Shortstops in Home Runs, Slugging %, On-Base %, and fWAR. He’s on pace to break personal records in just about every category, all while still having a nice 98% fielding average.

No doubt a name to watch for All-Star Weekend and ever so steadily climbing up the best players to watch in all of baseball.

Carlos Rodón is on Fire

Still amazed that a State pitcher threw a no-no in the Bigs. Rodón has only pitched in two games thus far, but is 2-0 and in 14 innings has allowed just two hits and ZERO runs. Los returns to the mound on Tuesday in Cleveland, where just a week ago he was a hit batter away from being perfect. If only it was a day later, he’d be on ESPN+, but nonetheless, double-check if you can’t find a way to stream the game.
