In tonight’s match up with the Tribe from William and Mary, NC State must be prepared for a barrage of three point attempts. In the past two season the Tribe have been ranked inside the top 15 in three point percentage (39% 2014; 36.6% 2015) and are among 6 teams to have finished inside the top 15 in two consecutive seasons. The other teams are Drake, Iona, Gonzaga, Lafayette, and Utah State. The Wolfpack on the other hand have had some trouble in the past defending the three ball, but must recognize that William and Mary posses the type of team where everyone can stretch the floor.

Since 2010 the Tribe have shot 36.7 % (1560 of 4246) and have averaged 260 makes a season. It will be critical that NC State runs them off of the three point line and that our big men challenge the three point line without fouling. One more key for the Pack will be finding shooters in transition and limiting offensive rebounds as they set up a great opportunity to launch uncontested threes. It should be a great game for NC State to open up with as William and Mary return four starters and are coming off back to back 20 win seasons. Not to mention they are the reining champs of the CAA.

Another interesting fact is that this is the 29th meeting between the former Southern Conference members and their first meeting since 2007.
