5-star 2019 Small Forward Christian Brown (6’6”/205) released his Top 7 last night, and NC State made the list.
— TIPTON EDITS 🏀 (@TiptonEdits) May 14, 2018
247Sports ranks Brown as the #22 overall player in the 2019 class, and the #4 Small Forward. Brown plays for Lower Richmond in Columbia, South Carolina. The Crystal Ball over at 247Sports has only 3 predictions via their experts, and all currently point in the direction of the Georgia Bulldogs.
2021 6’6 SF BJ Freeman has recently visited both NC State and UNC
It’s never too early to start tracking NC State’s prospects. This one is a 2021 6’6 SF named BJ Freeman who hails from Durham, NC. He plays his AAU ball with Team Loaded and is just starting to turn some heads.
Freeman recently took an unofficial visit to NC State during the team’s “Primetime with the Pack” kickoff event.

Freeman is still years away as a 2021 prospect, but he’s already gotten an offer from Penn State. He also recently visited UNC.

There is a long way to go with this one, but we’ll keep you posted as his recruitment starts to take shape.
2020 4-star SG Cam Thomas took his official visit to NC State this weekend
While some of the more hardcore State fans like to keep track of which recruits NC State is offering and which ones are listing the Wolfpack as a possibility, when a kid takes an official visit to Raleigh it’s time that all Pack fans should pay attention.
Cam Thomas, a 4-star SG from the 2020 class, used one of his five allotted official visits to check out NC State this past weekend. He toured the facilities, got the pitch and got to check out ‘Primetime with the Pack’.
Head Coach Kevin Keatts will host Cameron Thomas, a class of 2020 SG from @BooWilliamsAAU/Oak Hill Academy this weekend on an official visit at NC State University.

Thomas has been on Keatts radar for a bit and State has been out to see him play, however, they aren’t alone.
Pitt’s Jeff Capel along with assistants from Virginia, NC State, Illinois, Dayton & Wake Forest were in today for the Oak Hill/Hargrave scrimmage for the likes of Cam Thomas, Chandler Lawson, and Kofi Cockburn

So why is State so heavy on Thomas? First off, let’s look at their roster.
In 2020, Beverly, Devon Daniels and Blake Harris will be seniors, Markell and CJ Bryce will have just graduated, and recent 5-star commit Jalen Lecque will be a sophomore (if he doesn’t go to the NBA). That leaves NC State with a need for a young SG who can learn the ropes and be ready to take over when the seniors leave.
Looking at Cam Thomas’ skillset you see a kid who is showing signs of being an elite 3-level scorer at the ACC level. He’s already a great spot shooter and a very good shooter off the bounce. He’s 6’3 and still has a lot of HS basketball to play. He’s not crazy athletic, but he’s a physical kid for his age, doesn’t shy away from contact, and can finish through it. Picking up Thomas (who likely will rise to 5-star status eventually) would be huge for Keatts and company.
Ranking Jalen Lecque Among NC State’s Highest Rated Recruits
NC State landed a major commitment last week from 5-Star 2019 point guard Jalen Lecque. Below we breakdown the Wolfpack’s highest ranked commitments of the past 18 years, and Lecque currently ranks 7th. Obviously, he has his whole entire Senior season to see his ranking rise even higher.

Dennis Smith Jr. was the ACC Freshman of the Year. JJ Hickson made the All-ACC Freshman Team. CJ Leslie earned 2nd Team All-ACC honors. TJ Warren was the ACC Player of the Year. Brandon Costner was on the All-ACC Third Team. Cat Barber was First Team All-ACC and an AP All-American Honorable Mention. Omer Yurtseven earned 3rd Team All-ACC honors.
