If you’ve been frequenting Pack Insider these past few weeks then you are well aware of Jarkel Joiner.
In fact, Joiner was a guy that our staff writer Joey Wolferetti hinted at before he even hit the portal. We asked him how he could be confident enough to add him as a potential add even though he hadn’t made public he was transferring? He told us to mind out own business. Oh well, looks like he was right again.
Joiner since entered the portal and now he has committed to NC State.
This is a great add by Keatts and gives him a one year point guard that can handle, shoot and pass at a high level. This will give Breon Pass a little more transition time as he continues to learn the ropes at this level.
Joiner averaged 13 points, 3 boards and 2.3 assists per game. He shot a solid 41% from the floor and 34% from 3pt range. He’s going to fit in real well at NC State and fill a big time void. Joiner is an unselfish guard who moves really well, changes speeds with ease, and absorbs contact well. If Terquavion Smith returns then Joiner will take the role of distributor, but if Smith goes pro then Joiner has the ability to be a scorer.
If you want to know more about Joiner, check out our in depth piece on him from last week.
JJ can play defense! “…the stat that stands out the most is his 96th percentile rating in man defense, allowing just .591 average points in 154 possessions.”
