In the his first game of the 2024 NFL Preseason, former NC State Tight End Trent Pennix suffered a groin injury.

As a result, the Colts waived Pennix. After going unclaimed on waivers, Indy placed Pennix on their Injured Reserve.

Pennix sustained a groin injury in Sunday’s preseason bout against Denver. He was waived/injured by Indianapolis on Monday, but he was moved to IR the next day after not being claimed off waivers by another team. Pennix will now be forced to sit for the entire 2024 season unless he reaches an injury settlement with the Colts. (CBS)

This is a really unfortunate blow for Pennix. It was going to be a long shot for him to make the roster to begin with.

In his final year in Raleigh, Pennix had 15 receptions for 190 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also rushed the ball 2 times for 67 yards and a touchdown.
