Yesterday, three more NC State baseball players entered the transfer portal.

Sophomore relief pitcher Jaxon Lucas made 11 appearances this season, posting a 5.21 ERA and striking out 20 batters in 19 innings. Opponents hit .268 against him. In 2023, Lucas appeared in 15 games, recording a 9.43 ERA and striking out 22 batters in 21 innings. Opponents hit .337 against him in his first year.

Back in 2023, Lucas was ranked the No. 1 shortstop prospect in the state of North Carolina by Perfect Game and the No. 8 overall prospect in the state. He was also ranked the No. 117 overall prospect nationally.

Lucas has two years of eligibility remaining.

Redshirt sophomore catcher Drew Lanphere played in 39 games this season, hitting .221. Lanphere’s strong plate discipline (22 walks) helped boost his on-base percentage to .370. In 2023, he played in 32 games and hit a more respectable .273, posting a nearly identical .367 OBP.

Coming out of East Wake Academy, Perfect Game ranked Lanphere as the No. 3 third base prospect in North Carolina in 2022.

Freshman right-handed pitcher Aden Knowles did not see the field this season. Perfect Game ranked him as the No. 28 right-handed pitcher in the state of Florida in the 2024 class.

Ten Wolfpack players have now entered the transfer portal since it opened:

Junior Third Baseman Matt Heavner and Sophomore Third Baseman Ryan Jaros.

Freshman Outfielder Trey Bentley and Sophomore Outfielder Jet Gilliam

Redshirt Junior Pitcher Jacob Dienes, Junior Pitcher Eli Pillsbury and Sophomore Outfielder Jake Bechtel.
