Former NC State All-American Pitcher Carlos Rodon logged a Quality Start in the Yankee’s 4-3 win over the Red Sox last night in Game 2 of the 2025 American League Wild Card series, forcing a Game 3. Rodon gave up 3 earned runs in 6 innings pitched, striking out 6 (3 walks).

The Holly Springs native was able to convince manager Aaron Boone to let him stay in to finish the 6th inning.

This was Rodon’s 6th career postseason start, and his 2nd career playoff Quality Start. Over those 6 postseason starts, Rodon has a 6.15 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP, while striking out 34 batters in 26.1 innings. Considering his previous struggles in the postseason, Rodon proved the naysayers wrong last night, keeping his team alive in the 2025 MLB playoffs.

Rodon was one of the best pitchers in all of the MLB during the regular season, finishing with an 18-9 record, a 1.05 WHIP, while striking out 203 batters in 195.1 innings.
