NC State Legendary Duo James and Rivers Face Off for the 2nd Time in the WNBA

For the second time this season, the legendary former NC State guard duo of Aziaha James and Saniya Rivers faced off against one another in the WNBA last night.

James and the Wings defeated Rivers and the Sun, 86–83.

After coming off the bench in her first eight games, Zaza started her second consecutive game, producing the best performance of her young professional career in last night’s victory. James finished with 17 points (second on the team), 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, recording career highs in each category.

Rivers became a starter for the Sun in her fourth game, and she filled the box score last night just as Wolfpack fans had become accustomed to seeing over the past couple of years. In the Sun’s three-point loss, Rivers recorded 8 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.

Here’s a look at the duo’s season stats up to this point:

Rivers: 7.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.5 steals, 34.9 FG%
James: 4.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 32.6 FG%
