Four NC State Players Have Won NBA Championships

Last night, the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Indiana Pacers 103–91 in Game 7 to win their first NBA Championship in franchise history.

Four former NC State basketball players have gone on to become NBA champions:

Former NBA Players who have Won NBA Championships

1) Josh Powell – 2 times (2009 & 2010)
2) Chuck Nevitt – 1 time (1985)
2) Chucky Brown – 1 time (1995)
2) John Richter – 1 time (1960)

Josh Powell won back-to-back championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, appearing in four games and recording 5 points and 5 rebounds.

Chuck Nevitt also won a championship with the Lakers, playing in one of the six games in the series. He tallied 1 point, 1 block, and 1 steal in two minutes of action.

Chucky Brown played in all four games of the Rockets’ sweep of the Orlando Magic, contributing 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Jon Richter had 15 points and 12 rebounds in the Celtics’ seven-game series victory over the St. Louis Hawks.
