TThe 2025 MLB All-Star teams have been revealed, and former NC State All-American shortstop Trea Turner was snubbed.

Francisco Lindor (Mets) earned the starting nod, and Cincinnati’s Elly De La Cruz was selected as a reserve.

Taking nothing away from Lindor and De La Cruz, allow me to make the case for Turner.

Here’s a look at Turner’s statistical rankings among National League shortstops:

WAR: 3.8 (1st)
Batting Average: .299 (1st)
Hits: 110 (1st)
Doubles: 18 (tied 1st)
Triples: 2 (tied 2nd)
Stolen Bases: 22 (tied 1st)
Runs: 61 (2nd)
OPS: .798 (3rd)
OBP: .350 (4th)
Slugging %: .448 (4th)
Home Runs: 11 (tied 5th)
RBIs: 39 (8th)

Turner ranks higher in batting average and on-base percentage than both Lindor and De La Cruz, and has a higher OPS than Lindor.

His WAR of 3.8 is tied for 11th in all of MLB, regardless of position.

Let this sink in: Turner is the only MLB player ranked in the Top 23 in WAR who didn’t make either All-Star team.

Yahoo! released its 2025 MLB All-Star Snub Team, and Turner made the cut.

Previously, Turner was named an All-Star in 2021, 2022, and 2024.
