Former NC State guard Terry Gannon has been added to the NBA on NBC & Peacock broadcast team, joining Mike Tirico and Noah Eagle as a play-by-play announcer.

Gannon played for the Wolfpack from 1981–85, averaging 7.1 points per game. He was part of the Cardiac Pack that won the national championship in 1983, shooting an incredible 58.9% from three-point range—a mark that still stands as the best single-season 3-point percentage in school history. On two occasions during the 1982–83 season, he hit seven three-pointers in a single game.

Gannon’s career free-throw percentage of 85.4% ranks second in NC State history.

The former NC State Academic All-American has been one of the most prolific sports broadcasters over the past 30+ years. Since 1987, Gannon has appeared on screen as an analyst covering college basketball, minor league baseball, college football, PGA golf, the Tour de France, the NBA, the Belmont Stakes, the Little League World Series, the WNBA, figure skating, beach volleyball, tennis, motocross, skiing, mountain biking, the Men’s & Women’s World Cup, and the Special Olympics.

Gannon has famously covered five Olympic Games, earning an Emmy in 2024.
