Former NC State 2026 signee Trevon Carter-Givens has officially been released from his National Letter of Intent and has signed with Creighton.

Carter-Givens originally committed to NC State in September and signed with the Wolfpack in November, but will now continue his career elsewhere.

The 6’11”, 190-pound center is widely regarded as one of the top rim protectors in the 2026 class, with his defensive presence being the defining trait of his game. However, last year’s staff mostly viewed TCG as a project. Someone who would eventually become a valuable big, but would need time to build up his body and his skillset. In fact, even if Wade had stayed, there were questions about whether they would keep Carter-Givens or let him out of NLI.

Why would they do that? Well, mostly because they had been impressed by the improvements of Mikey Wilkins and wanted to keep him around. In the era of NIL where every team in the conference is reloading every year, you can’t have too many project guys on your roster. Especially at similar positions.

But don’t get us wrong. TCG is a big-time prospect. From a recruiting standpoint, 247Sports and ESPN both rate Carter-Givens as a 4-star prospect, while Rivals lists him as a 3-star. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 106 overall player nationally in the 2026 class.

While Carter-Givens’ departure may not come as a surprise, it now makes things official.

NC State’s 2026 recruiting class has seen significant turnover. Cole Cloer, who was originally part of the class, enrolled early in January before entering the transfer portal following Will Wade’s departure to LSU. Cloer ultimately landed at Alabama.

As it stands now, Kingston Whitty is the lone remaining member of NC State’s 2026 high school recruiting class.
