Yesterday the ACC Digital Network’s Roddy Jones shared who he believed the Top 3 ACC Backfields were, and NC State landed at his #1 spot.

1) NC State
2) Florida St.
3) Clemson

“I’m going with the best combination of Shad Thornton and Matt Dayes at NC State.  Thornton will do all of the work in between the tackles, and he will pound the ball in the end zone, but it’s Dayes that really makes it go.  He’s a threat out of the backfield as a receiver.  You can hand him the rock and he will do magic with it.  Over 1,900 yards of production between those two guys last year.  That’s why they’re my number one backfield in the ACC for 2015.” (Roddy Jones)

The ACC Digital Network also put out this video yesterday breaking down all 4 of the Wolfpacks running threats.

Matt Dayes – “The Century Man” – He’s begun the season with three straight 100 yard games.  Last year Dayes was one of just three players in the nation to have 300+ yards running, receiving and in returns.
Shadrach Thornton – “The Punisher” – By the end of the season he’ll likely be in the Top 4 all-time in NC State for rushing yards.
Jaylen Samuels – “The Utility Knife” – He has 5 rushing touchdowns in 3 games.  Samuels is also the teams leading receiver.
Jacoby Brissett – “The Alpha Dog” – He’s the infectious leader of an offense averaging 41 points.  Brissett hasn’t thrown an interception in the last 6 games, and he has 6 touchdowns over that streak.
