After bouncing around overseas and spending some time in the D-League, former NC State guard CJ Williams finally had his NBA dream come true at 27 years of age.

Williams was brought up by the Clippers on November 9th. On November 19th, he scored his first NBA basket. It was likely going to be just a short-term call-up, but like he’s done at every stage of his career, Williams has overcome the odds and is still up with the Clips.

The 6’5 shooting guard scored another bucket on Nov 22nd, but it was last night that he finally had the type of game he’s been looking for.

Williams set his career-high with 7 points in a career-best 16 minutes. He also added 2 assists and a rebound.

Williams is showing more and more confidence in his game and Clippers’ coach Doc Rivers is starting to notice. He has moved CJ up in the rotation, meaning he might not be the odd man out when guys start coming back from injury.

We will note again, CJ Williams came to NC State as a 3-star prospect. he was mostly a role player throughout his entire college career at NC State. But just look at him now. His dedication to the craft and hours of hard work has him in a better position than most of the 5-star, highly-touted guys who came before him.

Congrats CJ, and keep proving them wrong.
