The NCAA Wrestling Tournament wrapped up last night, with NC State finishing strong. Vincent Robinson, the #4 seed, won the National Championship at 125 pounds. Matty Singleton and Isaac Trumble joined Robinson in earning All-American honors.

As a team, the Wolfpack finished 8th in the final team standings, their highest ranking since the 2021 season.

NC State has finished in the top 10 in five of the 13 seasons that Pat Popolizio has been the head coach, with an average finish of 14.8.

2025 – 8th
2024 – 11th (tie)
2023 – 10th
2022 – 10th
2021 – 6th
2019 – 17th
2018 – 4th (tie)
2017 – 17th
2016 – 11th
2015 – 16th
2014 – 19th
2013 – 63rd

Prior to the arrival of Popolizio, NC State hadn’t finished in the top 10 in the final NCAA Tournament standings since 1993 (6th), and only three times ever. The impact Popolizio has had on the wrestling program in Raleigh is unreal, elevating the Wolfpack to be one of the best teams in the nation on an annual basis. Before his arrival, NC State finished in the top 20 in the NCAA Tournament only twice.

Despite finishing third in the 2025 ACC Tournament, NC State’s eighth-place finish in the 2025 NCAA Tournament was the best in the conference.

8. NC State
11. Virginia Tech
18. Stanford (tie)
27. Pitt (tie)
32. UNC
43. UVA
