Throughout the entirety of the 2025 baseball season, #16 NC State’s pitching rotation for weekend series has been set. Junior Dominic Fritton has pitched Game 1, sophomore Heath Andrews has pitched Game 2, and sophomore Ryan Marohn has pitched Game 3.

The Wolfpack is changing up their pitching rotation for their series against #4 UNC, which starts tonight in Chapel Hill at 6 pm.

Marohn is moving from Game 3 to Game 1, Fritton is shifting from Game 1 to Game 2, and the Wolfpack has yet to announce their starting pitcher for the series finale on Sunday.

Moving Marohn to Game 1 isn’t shocking, considering he has been one of the best starting pitchers in the ACC over his last three starts, allowing only one earned run in each game. During that span, Marohn has given up three earned runs in 22.1 innings, striking out 18.

Fritton, on the other hand, has struggled lately, giving up four or more earned runs in five of his last six starts.

I’ve been wondering if Andrews would be removed from the starting rotation. His season ERA has ballooned to a whopping 6.09. Andrews has allowed six or more earned runs in three of his last four starts.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see junior Andrew Shaffner or freshman Anderson Nance get the start on Sunday. Both have been two of the Wolfpack’s best pitchers out of the bullpen all season long.

Shaffner has a 2.35 ERA and is holding opposing batters to a .233 batting average.

Nance is on his way to being a Freshman All-American (in my humble opinion), with a 7-1 record and a 2.68 ERA. Batters are hitting just .227 against him.

Tonight, Ryan Marohn will take the mound in Chapel Hill at 6 pm on ACC Network Extra.
