NC State Sophomore Infielder Trenton Lyons is entering the Transfer Portal.

Lyons battled injuries in his lone season in Raleigh, accumulating 4 hits in 16 at-bats in 7 games (5 starts). He transferred to NC State last offseason from Ole Miss, where he hit .256 in 22 games (7 starts).

Lyons has 2 years of eligibility remaining.

Also, I failed to report previously that Sophomore 1st Baseman Matt Ossenfort also entered the Portal earlier in the month.

Ossenfort hit .240 this season in 24 games (16 starts). He transferred to NC State this past offseason from Vanderbilt, where he played in 6 games as a Freshman. Coming out of High School, Ossenfort was the #10 1st Baseman in the 2023 recruiting class.

He has 2 years of eligibility remaining.

14 NC State players have now entered the transfer portal since it opened:

Freshman Infielder Ryder Woodson

Junior Relief Pitcher Derrick Smith

Sophomore Relief Pitcher Jaxon Lucas, Redshirt Sophomore Catcher Drew Lanphere and Freshman Right-Handed Pitcher Aden Knowles

Junior Third Baseman Matt Heavner and Sophomore Third Baseman Ryan Jaros.

Freshman Outfielder Trey Bentley and Sophomore Outfielder Jet Gilliam

Redshirt Junior Pitcher Jacob Dienes, Junior Pitcher Eli Pillsbury and Sophomore Outfielder Jake Bechtel.
