NC State picked up a commitment from Alabama transfer pitcher Danny Heintz on Wednesday.

Heintz spent his first four seasons at Penn before transferring to Alabama for the 2025 season. He appeared in one game for the Crimson Tide before redshirting the year.

During his time at Penn, Heintz made 29 appearances as a reliever, posting a 7.45 ERA.

Heintz is coming home—he grew up in Morrisville, North Carolina, and played high school baseball at Green Hope High School in Cary.

Athleticism runs in the family. Danny’s brother, PJ Heintz, played college baseball at UNC Asheville. His father, Robert Heintz, played professionally on the PGA Tour and currently serves as an assistant golf coach at Duke. His uncle, Chris Heintz, played professional baseball with the Minnesota Twins.

Heintz is the 7th player to transfer to NC State this offseason, joining Indiana Outfielder Andrew Wiggins, Tennessee Outfielder Dalton Bargo, JMU 3rd Baseman Wyatt Peifer, LSU Infielder Mikey Ryan, Duke Pitcher Collins Black and South Carolina Pitcher Ryder Garino.
