UNC Running Back Davion Gause is Transferring to NC State

UNC running back Davion Gause (5’11″/215) is transferring to NC State.

Gause arrived in Chapel Hill in 2024 and made an immediate impact. As a true freshman, he rushed for 326 yards and four touchdowns, averaging 4.9 yards per carry, and added four receptions for 45 yards.

This season, Gause rushed for 259 yards and three touchdowns, averaging 4.2 yards per carry. He was much more involved in the passing game in Year 2, catching 16 passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns.

Guase was the 2nd highest graded player on the Tar Heels’ offense according to PFF (73.1).

247Sports ranks Gause as the No. 42 running back to enter the Transfer Portal. Coming out of high school, he was a four-star prospect in the 2024 class, with Rivals ranking him as the No. 19 running back nationally.

Gause is reconnecting with NC State quarterback CJ Bailey. The two graduated together from Chaminade-Madonna in Hollywood, Florida.

He has 2 years of eligibility remaining.

Gause becomes the 8th transfer commitment for NC State this cycle, joining Montana St. Tight End Hunter Provience, Miami Wide Receiver Chance Robinson, Penn State Safety King MackGeorgia Cornerback Ondre EvansArkansas State punter Jackson WallerECU offensive lineman Jimarion McCrimon and Buffalo wide receiver Victor Snow.
