NC State Lands Marshall DT KaTron Evans in Transfer Portal

Marshall defensive tackle KaTron Evans (6’3”, 336) is transferring to NC State after taking an official visit on Sunday.

Evans recorded 12 tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss this season for the Thundering Herd, appearing in 11 games.

Prior to joining Marshall in 2025, Evans spent one season at UNC Charlotte, where he finished with eight tackles, one tackle for loss, and one fumble recovery.

Evans began his collegiate career at Jackson State, where he played two seasons and totaled 14 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, and 1.5 sacks across 12 games.

He was a consensus four-star prospect in the 2021 recruiting class, with Rivals ranking him as the No. 149 overall player nationally, the No. 13 defensive lineman, and the No. 6 player in the state of Maryland.

Evans earned a PFF grade of 64.1 during the 2025 season at Marshall.

He has one year of eligibility remaining.

Evans becomes the 15th transfer commitment for NC State this cycle, joining Appalachian State Wide Receiver Davion Dozier, Penn State Linebacker DaKaari Nelson, UNC Cornerback Ty White, Texas Offensive Lineman Daniel Cruz, EDGE Harvey Dyson, Alcorn St. Wide Receiver Tyran Warren, UNC Running Back Davion Gause, Montana St. Tight End Hunter Provience, Miami Wide Receiver Chance Robinson, Penn State Safety King MackGeorgia Cornerback Ondre EvansArkansas State Punter Jackson WallerECU Offensive Lineman Jimarion McCrimon and Buffalo Wide Receiver Victor Snow.
