NC State Lands Oregon TE Vander Ploog in Transfer Portal

Oregon tight end Vander Ploog (6’6”, 242) is transferring to NC State after taking an official visit this weekend.

Ploog redshirted during his first collegiate season, preserving four years of eligibility.

Coming out of high school, Ploog was a consensus four-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, with Rivals ranking him as the No. 166 overall player nationally, the No. 4 tight end, and the No. 14 player in the state of California.

Currently, ON3 rates Ploog as a four-star transfer, ranking him as the No. 125 overall player to enter the Transfer Portal this offseason and the No. 7 tight end available, making him the highest ranked player currently in the Wolfpack’s Transfer Class.

As a senior at Troy High School (Fullerton, CA), Ploog posted a dominant season, hauling in 75 receptions for 1,148 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also added 123 rushing yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his versatility as both a receiver and ball carrier.
